Job Overview

About the Role

Build your game. As the creative lead and primary builder on a brand-new title, you’ll ship a complete, commercially viable game in ~6 months. We’re looking for a ruthless self-starter who prototypes daily, chases the fun, and grinds through unknowns without waiting on help.

At Timedrift, AI is your force multiplier. You’ll let AI write ~90–95% of your code, while you drive architecture, taste, and iteration in-engine (Unity). We back you with full-time support, guardrails, and publishing—so you can move fast and finish. We’re structured so outsized outcomes can come with outsized upside.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the Game End-to-End: From concept to 1.0—systems, feel, moment-to-moment, and scope.
  • Vibe Code in Engine (Unity): Rapidly iterate on feel, input, camera, loops, and UX—daily wins, weekly playable momentum.
  • Run an AI-Native Workflow: Prompt, review, refactor, and integrate AI-generated code, art stubs, and tools; keep quality and performance high.
  • Scope to Ship: Ruthlessly cut, simplify, and polish; build something shippable—not a slice.
  • Test & Tighten: Drive hands-on playtests, validate hooks, and sharpen retention/virality with small, surgical changes.
  • Market-Aware Craft: Collaborate with us on positioning, thumbnails, trailers, and launch beats.

Must-Haves

  • Grinder DNA: You push through blockers and “just figure it out” without hand-holding.
  • Unity In-Engine Speed: Comfortable building and debugging gameplay, input, cameras, UI, physics, and scene management.
  • AI-First Builder: You’re excited to let AI generate ~90–95% of code/content while you direct, review, and glue everything together.
  • Taste & Game Sense: Strong feel for UX, pacing, juice, and “what’s actually fun.”
  • Solo Execution Track: Shipped a game or multiple prototypes/jams that prove end-to-end ownership.
  • 3+ years in game dev (studio or equivalent indie output).
  • Low-ego, high-output communication: Clear weekly updates, playtest notes, and build handoffs.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building procedural/systemic design, short-session replayability, or economy/meta loops.
  • Portfolio of small experiments that show you find the fun fast.
  • Interest in social/creator hooks and lightweight go-to-market thinking.

How We Support You

  • Full‑time Backing + Real Creative Autonomy: You lead; we challenge, frame, and unblock.
  • Meaningful Revenue Participation: When your game wins, you win.
  • Hands-On Help: Design reviews, playtest loops, art support, UI/audio polish, trailer support.
  • Publishing & Launch: We handle go-to-market so your game is seen.
  • Production Cadence: Clear milestones, weekly check-ins
