Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

We are looking for a forward-thinking and technically curious intern to join our Consumer Software Group. Our team builds a unified, cross-platform ecosystem designed to differentiate our hardware through a seamless, user-centric experience across iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in software strategy, AI integration, and next-generation UX design within the consumer storage and removable flash memory space. You will support strategic initiatives that bridge the gap between hardware and software, working cross-functionally with engineering, product management, QA, and design teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Market Research: Conduct deep-dive competitive analyses of storage applications and emerging hardware/software trends in the IoT, Edge AI, and wireless connectivity sectors.

AI Integration & Enablement: Assist in identifying and implementing AI-driven workflows to optimize software functions across the product lifecycle (e.g., streamlining QA automation, enhancing PM documentation, or supporting engineering agents).

UX Vision & Prototyping: Support the “UX vision-setting” process by exploring “vibe design” and “vibe code” concepts to create high-value, emotive user experiences for external storage management.

Cross-Platform Strategy: Help analyze and document feature parity and native platform integrations across mobile and desktop environments to ensure a cohesive global user journey.

Data-Driven Analysis: Gather and analyze user behavior data to assess the impact of new software features and recommend architectural or design improvements.

Project Coordination: Support the tracking of software sprints, feature deliverables, and technical documentation using Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).

Collaborative Innovation: Participate in cross-functional workshops to align software development efforts with the broader hardware roadmap and consumer needs.

Qualifications

Required:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related technical field.

Strong interest in cross-platform development frameworks (e.g., Flutter) and modern software architectures.

Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and an interest in applying LLMs or agentic tools to improve professional software workflows.

A passion for User Experience (UX) and an eye for “vibe-centric” design—understanding how software feels to the end-user, not just how it functions.

Analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex technical research into actionable product insights.

Proficiency in Atlassian Suite (Jira/Confluence) or similar project management and documentation tools.

Self-motivated and eager to experiment with emerging technologies in a fast-paced consumer electronics environment.

Preferred Skills:

Excellent communication skills for articulating technical visions to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

What You’ll Gain:

Global Impact: Exposure to building and scaling software for a massive global consumer base.

Strategic Mentorship: Guidance from experienced leads in software strategy, engineering, and product design.

Cutting-Edge Focus: Hands-on experience at the intersection of traditional storage hardware and modern AI/Edge computing.

Portfolio Development: The opportunity to contribute to high-level vision documents and functional prototypes that shape the future of the SanDisk software ecosystem.

Networking: Direct interaction with cross-functional teams across the entire consumer hardware and software lifecycle.
