Original Job Description

Causa Prima is building agentic AI networks that autonomously run CFO office operations across company borders — accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and treasury. We’re replacing decades of manual workflows with AI agents that reason about financial data, make decisions, and learn from human feedback.
You’ll own the entire product surface from day one: what the agents should do, how they interact with humans and counterparties, what the approval and escalation patterns look like, and how humans in the loop build trust in autonomous systems handling real money. You’ll translate deep domain pain points into agent behaviors, define the product roadmap, and work hand-in-hand with engineering to ship.
This is a founding product role. You’ll report directly to a co-founder and will build and lead the product function as we scale. Nobody has a playbook for agentic finance products — you’ll write it.
What you’ll do

Own the product roadmap end-to-end — From AP/AR automation to cash forecasting to the counterparty portal. You define what gets built and why.

Lead product discovery — Deeply understand CFO office workflows, identify where autonomous agents create the most leverage, and define what the agents should do and how.

Translate financial operations into agent behaviors — Invoice matching, payment approval, cash positioning, reconciliation — turned into precise agent behaviors, decision trees, and escalation logic.

Bridge engineering and business — Write technical specs that engineers love, informed by real customer pain. Work directly with the AI and platform engineering teams.

Design the trust architecture — How do CFOs gain confidence in agents handling millions in transactions? Define the transparency, auditability, and human-in-the-loop patterns.

Define metrics that matter — Build the instrumentation and feedback loops to understand what agents are doing well and where they fail.

Build and lead the product function — As the company scales, you’ll grow from IC to leader. This is a career-defining opportunity to build a product organization from scratch.

Define the product leader role for the age of agentic AI — This is not a legacy product role. It’s a yet-to-be-defined hybrid of crafts. You need to be comfortable with this, thrive with this.

MVP and rapid prototyping — Develop MVPs from concept to functional prototype using rapid techniques including vibe coding. Quickly iterate, test hypotheses, and build a solid technical foundation aligned with product vision and market needs.
What we’re looking for

Deep product management experience with a track record of shipping complex B2B/enterprise products from zero to one. Exact years don’t matter — what matters is that you’ve done it and done it well.

Strong technical chops. You can read code, reason about system architecture, understand API design, and have a working knowledge of AI/ML and LLM-based systems. You don’t need to be an engineer, but you need to speak the language fluently.

Real fintech or financial services domain expertise. You understand how AP, AR, treasury, or cash management actually works — the messy, exception-heavy reality, not the textbook version.

Enterprise SaaS product sense. You know how to design for procurement cycles, compliance requirements, multi-stakeholder approvals, and the CFO’s risk tolerance.

Exceptional at framing ambiguous problems. You can take a vague pain point, structure it, prioritize ruthlessly, and turn it into a clear product direction.

A bias for building over talking. You ship, you measure, you iterate. You’re comfortable with imperfect information and fast decisions.

Strong written and verbal communication. You can write a spec that engineers rally behind and present a roadmap that a board believes in.

Hands-on with AI coding tools — Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable, or similar. You prototype, you build quick proof-of-concepts, you don’t wait for engineering to validate an idea. This is non-negotiable.

Early-stage startup experience — you thrive in ambiguity, can context-switch across strategy and execution, and know what it takes to build from nothing.

Nice to have:

Experience building AI-powered or agentic products — you’ve wrestled with the unique UX challenges of autonomous systems, probabilistic outputs, and human-in-the-loop design.

Background in accounting, treasury, or CFO-office operations — you’ve sat in the chair or worked directly alongside people who have.

Experience working closely with enterprise sales and go-to-market teams — you understand how product decisions affect pipeline, pricing, and positioning.
