Original Job Description
ABOUT PLAYPOWER LABS
PlayPower Labs builds software for leading EdTech companies that serve millions of learners. We help our clients solve hard product and engineering problems so they can deliver better learner experiences through advanced technology, thoughtful design, and reliable execution.
We’ve been fully remote since before COVID and plan to stay remote. We are US-based, with a development center in Gandhinagar, India.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe technology is a force multiplier for education.
Great software can make learning more engaging, effective, personalized, and accessible for millions of learners worldwide. The future of education will be shaped by advanced online learning, AI, and education data, and we want to help build that future.
Education data combined with AI is opening up new ways to create adaptive, personalized learning experiences. We’re here to turn those opportunities into real products that learners, educators, and EdTech companies can actually use.
THE ROLE
We’re looking for a high-energy product designer who wants to ship real experiences, not just push pixels in a file.
You’ll design intuitive, engaging, AI-powered learning products used by students and educators around the world. You’ll take problems from ambiguous to shipped: framing the problem, mapping the flow, designing the screens and states, and building clickable prototypes that prove the experience works. This role is for someone who can design a feature, prototype it fast, hand it off clean, and keep the user in control, especially when AI is doing the heavy lifting.
If you like moving fast, experimenting hard, and using AI as a real design multiplier, you’ll fit right in.
You can find details on the interview process here
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Design UI/UX for AI-based experiences across EdTech web and mobile apps used by students and educators.
Own work end to end: problem framing, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and clickable prototypes.
Design user-facing AI/LLM features that reduce effort while keeping the user in control, with review, edit, and undo built in.
Apply vibe coding and modern AI design tools (Claude Design, Lovable, Figma) to go from idea to working prototype fast.
Build and maintain reusable components, variants, and design tokens so the product stays consistent as it scales.
Design for accessibility by default: clear labels, keyboard use, focus, contrast, useful errors, and status beyond color (WCAG 2.2 AA).
Design mobile-first, responsive interfaces that hold up on a phone and adapt cleanly to desktop.
Produce engineering-ready handoffs a developer can start building tomorrow: flows, states, validation rules, and component specs.
Collaborate in fast iteration loops with designers, engineers, product, and learning experts to sharpen user flows.
Bring energy, ideas, and momentum to a small team building real product.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
A strong portfolio of shipped product design across web and mobile, with clear thinking behind the pixels.
Strong skills in Figma, and craft in visual and interaction design: hierarchy, spacing, typography, and states.
A genuine sense of product: you interrogate the brief, make assumptions explicit, and prioritize what matters.
Interest in designing for AI-enhanced, personalized user journeys, and keeping people in control of the AI.
Fluent with modern AI design and prototyping tools, and willing to keep experimenting as the tooling evolves.
Systems thinking: you design with reusable components, variants, and tokens, not one-off screens.
Accessibility-minded, with real care for how the product feels for every user.
Product-minded and comfortable moving without perfect instructions.
Startup energy: ownership, speed, curiosity, and no “that’s not my job” attitude.
BONUS POINTS
You’ve designed for EdTech, or for students, teachers, or classrooms specifically.
You’ve built and maintained a design system, or shipped a real component library.
You can prototype in code (HTML/CSS, React, or tools like Lovable) to make handoffs sharper and iterations faster.
You’ve designed AI-powered product features and thought hard about failure states, guardrails, and human review.
WHAT WE OFFER
Remote work, competitive pay, real ownership, space to experiment, and a small team that cares about building good products without corporate theater.
