The OCO team collaborates with and supports two main teams, with this role primarily focused on the former:
People Team, comprising our Corporate Real Estate and Security Team (CREST), Grabber Technology Services (GTS) and People Operations (Pops). This allows the OCO team to work at the intersection of all three domains that an employee (our Grabbers) experience and therefore influence their performance – physical, digital and people
Public Affairs
Get to Know the Role
The role of Head, People Science is a critical one in enabling Grab to achieve the People North Star of increasing productivity advantage by
Strengthening the motivation of our Grabbers
Increasing their skills
Reducing “blockers” that get in the way
Optimizing our costs across the People Team
To do that, the individual will be responsible for going beyond analysing and reporting “what happened” to predicting “what will happen” and providing insights on “what should we best do about it now.”
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
The work will be dynamic and challenging in driving transformational change for the People team, requiring a strategic mindset combined with strong execution and technical capabilities. You will be responsible for:
Democratising data insights and analysis – ensuring that different user groups have access to the People data but more importantly, the insights they need, and are able to self-serve on analysing them. This includes:
Solving for automation, data access, stability and hygiene together with our People Data Warehouse team in a way that is scalable and sustainable for Grab (e.g., solving for data access rights upstream to allow for secure and relevant people data access)
Building the right tools, leveraging existing platforms, to enable these users to gain timely insights and pursue deeper analysis (e.g., transforming existing People Impact Card from data summaries into automated newsletters and just-in-time nudges anchored on People Team North Star with actionable insights, leveraging the existing portfolio of internal tools such as Cortana and Valet to enable democratised analysis of our people data)
Developing new products that enable teams to drive the people changes we want, act on insights along that journey while adding to our People Data Warehouse (e.g., work redesign product that can allow individual Grabbers to redesign their own roles, as well as help org leaders and Pops business partners drive top-down process and corresponding org redesign based on AI’s impact on tasks and activities)

Guiding and driving forward-looking People actions
Generating predictive insights against our North Star (e.g., flight risk and skill growth rate for “Skills” or signals of disengagement for “Motivation”, or People Team costs-to-serve as part of “Cost”) to enable proactive actions
Transforming complex data sets into digestible executive “narratives” that enable decision-making for Exco and the People Team leaders
Designing and pursuing data- and science-backed interventions to change or shape the desired behaviours at scale (e.g., institutionalizing research-proven meeting hygiene practices into habits)

We are looking for someone who is both a strategic and detail-oriented hands-on leader and brings the following skills:
Transformative leadership
Strategic and critical thinking: Ability to envision the future state of the organisation, define the changes required and chart the path towards that
Team leadership: Ability to help raise the performance bar of the team while fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment

Analytics: Ability to work with complex sets of data to distill and concisely explain meaningful insights especially for non-technical stakeholders, as well as being able to identify and pursue data / proxy data sources for hypotheses testing or new analysis
Ethical judgement: Understanding of data privacy, biases in AI/algorithms, and striking the right balance between any ethical implications and the business impact
Human and Behavioural Insight: Ability to incorporate understanding of human behavior, cultural and contextual differences (e.g., between senior and junior levels) when interpreting data to ensure relevance, accuracy and right actions to take
Stakeholder leadership
Stakeholder management: Ability to effectively convene, resolve conflicts, and influence diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership, functional heads, and cross-functional teams, sometimes with conflicting priorities or agendas
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to distill the most critical points, facilitate discussions for progress, and present complex information clearly
Qualifications:
Experience: 10+ years of experience in People Analytics, People Science, or Data Science, with at least 3 years leading cross-functional data product launches or behavioral intervention programs.
Technical Proficiency: Proven track record of querying and manipulating large-scale databases (e.g., SQL) and building predictive models (using R, Python, or similar) that have survived a production environment.
